Among the clouds

Greece and Santorini have the opposite seasons to us, so when we are freezing our butts off in winter, the Greeks are sun baking on their rooftops. December to March are the coldest months with the average being 12 degrees and the max in their summer months is about 29 degrees. Santorini has very little rainfall which pretty much only falls in winter. You would really only travel to the Greek Islands from as early as May to as late as October. It kind of turns into a sleepy town in the off season. Yes believe it or not – they do have a winter!

How to get there

Flights from Athens only take about 45 minutes to an hour and operate daily. However getting from Australia is relatively easy but takes some time. A stop in another city on the way is needed, whether it’s Bangkok with Thai Airways, Singapore with Singapore Air or London with British Airways.

Documents

Every international departure from Australia will require you to have a current Australian passport with a minimum of 6 months validity remaining from your return date into Australia. If you are traveling on a foreign passport, a visa may be required so you will need to contact Wedding Destinations to check your status.

Electrical Equations

Greece’s power runs between 220 – 240 Volts, which is the same as Australia, however the power outlet is the round prongs with either two or three sockets. Buy a converter before you go, or ask your hotel for a universal power adaptor.
