Thailand's climate is tropical, high both in temperature and humidity, and dominated by monsoons. April and May are the hottest months of the year, when even the locals are moved to complain about the heat. June sees the beginning of the South West Monsoon, and brings with it the rainy season, which continues intermittently until the end of October.

From November to the end of February the climate is much less trying with a cooling North East breeze and a reduction in the humidity level. This is also the main tourist season, and the best time to visit Thailand.

The dreaded rain?

The average rainfall in May – October is usually above the 150mm mark with September being the most drizzly with an average of 319mm. November to March is quite dry with less rainfall in December.

How to Get there

Flying to Bangkok from Australia’s East Coast is about 9 hours. Thai Airways is Thailand’s national carrier and operates direct to Bangkok daily from most Australian cities.

Do I need documents?

Every international departure from Australia will require you to have a current Australian passport with a minimum of 6 months validity remaining from your return date into Australia. If you are traveling on a foreign passport, a visa may be required so you will need to contact Wedding Destinations to check your status.

Why Wedding Destinations love Thailand!

Her charisma and magnetism has drawn many visitors to delight in the Thai culture, rich cuisine and bargain markets.

The country is so diverse in terms of her geographical features, with mountains to the north in the Chiang Mai province, beach resorts on the coastal parts of the south including, the islands of Phuket and Koh Samui. The north east bordered by the Mekong River, and the centre being fantastic for farmers as the Chao Phra River makes the soil fertile. The people, food, rich culture and marvelous history will leave you in awe.

Bangkok

Central Bangkok is Thailand’s capital city and is a buzzing array of hasty locals and choking traffic. Initially it can be quite a shock for the first time westerners but the eccentricity is irresistible and you will find yourself consumed with fascination! The strip bars, lady boys, loudness and humidity will not lessen your lust for immersing yourself in the marvels of this amazing metropolis.

The past, present and future chime together in Bangkok, where an old lady still makes her trade outside a 5 star hotel. Ancient ruins of temples and holy buildings border the streets where night clubs stand, and crazy gigantic malls with a variety of goods leave you spoilt for choice!

Getting around

Bangkok will take patience although it is quite cheap, and choosing the right mode of transport for your destined place of interest is a bit tricky as there are plenty of ways to get around. The Bangkok Mass transit system called the Sky rail and Bangkok Subways are linked together and can take you to most places.

Taxis are cheap but make sure you negotiate a rate before jumping in, although taxi drivers are supposed to use a meter to record the distance, not all will, and you may just find your driver getting a little greedy if you do not negotiate a price beforehand. Driving yourself through Bangkok is not recommended although you are able to hire a car and driver for a day.A Tuk-Tuk is your best bet for transport, although these are sometime dangerous, they are the quickest mode of transport but do not get one for a long trip as you will end up quite dirty at the end! A pre-booked transfer to and from the airport are definitely worth it.

A necessary stop over in Bangkok for at least one full working day is needed to marry legally in Thailand.
